Vera Bettis

December 26, 1931 — April 3, 2021

     

Visitation will be held April 14, 2021 from 4-8 pm at Doughty-Calhoun-O’Meara 1100 Truxtun Ave. A memorial service will be held on April 15, 2021 at 10 am at Doughty-Calhoun. Pastor Scott Dickerson will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Hillcrest Mortuary  9101 Kern Canyon Rd.

       Vera Virginia Kamrath-Bettis 89 was born on December 26, 1931 and left to be with the Lord on April 3, 2021. Vera attended local schools graduating from East High in 1949. Vera worked the switchboard at Pac Bell and Kidd’s Communications retiring in 1983.

        Vera is preceded in death my her parents Jose and Victoria Perez, Brother Joe Perez, husband Rueben Kamrath, daughter Linda Yarbrough-Conner and  grandson Joseph Conner. Vera is survived by her sons Allen Conner, Ty Conner (Patti), Marc Kamrath (Carolyn), Lester Bathholomen (Sharon), and daughters Gail Bacon, Marsha Jorgenson (Jack) and  Margaret Mileski (Steve).  Vera’s grandchildren Valerie, Wendy, Theresa, Jessica, Matthew, Kristen, Jeffrey, Dane, Eric, Denyse, Tamera, Jon, Kevin, and Michele. Vera’s great-grandchildren Cody, Anthony, Destiny, Chase, Diesel, Autumn, Tristian, Coby, James, Jonathan and Courtney.

        Vera enjoyed working with children and volunteered for many years as Cub Scout Den mother,  Girl Scout advisor and loved her 2 years as PTA President of Noble School. After her children were raised, she volunteered for many years at the Kern County Mission and each Election Day at the neighborhood polling station. She loved to dance and play bingo.

         Our mother loved the Lord with all her heart. She read the Bible daily and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Vera as the Matriarch of the family was the happiest when the family gathered at her home for the holidays.

         A very special thank you to  Hallmark Bakersfielfd and Hoffman Hospice for their devoted care for Vera.

         You were special mother and as Blake would say “ When God came to you he sprinkled extra beauty, courage, determination and smarts dust on you.“ Until we meet again Rest In Peace God Speed.

 

A celebration of life for Vera will follow at Ty and Patti Conner’s home 13421 Snow Rd. 93314.
