Stephanie Joan (Consolazione) Haskell
May 29, 1930 - May 30, 2024
Stephanie (Stevie) Haskell passed away peacefully in Bakersfield, CA., with her loving family by her side, on May 30, 2024 at the age of 94. A celebration of her life will begin with the Recitation of the Rosary on Wednesday, July,10, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., at St. Francis Church, 900 H Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. after the rosary, also at St. Francis Church with the Rev. Dr. Theophane Antony officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest.
Stevie was born May 29, 1930 in West Allis, Wisconsin, to Paul and Anna Consolazione. She was blessed to grow up in a loving family and was close to her siblings, Grace Ellen, Cathy, and Tom.
It was in Wisconsin where she met and married her one true love, Philip Haskell, Jr. In 1948, she and Phil came to Bakersfield along with Phil’s parents and siblings. Stevie ultimately owned Haskell’s Costumes, a well-known Bakersfield institution that served our community well for decades. She used to proudly say “I’ve dressed many of the people in Bakersfield”. She had a ready smile and she knew how to “work a room”. At a large gathering, she always wanted to face the door so she could see who was entering the room. Her husband Phil knew that he should not get in a hurry to leave a place, as she would spend a lot of time saying good-bye to many people.
Stevie was a woman true to her Catholic faith. She was an active parishioner of St. Francis Church, where she was a member of the church Altar Society. She was also a longtime member of the Columbian Wives and the Golden Agers group. She spent many hours helping out at St. Francis School, where her 6 children attended. Stevie was involved in many other activities throughout her life, which opened up a broad base of friendships that she cherished deeply.
She enjoyed the life she had with Phil (he always called her his “Sweetie Face”), and their six children. We will miss her, but her love will carry us through the days and years ahead. It is comforting to us knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior. We know there were many people welcoming her into heaven.
Stevie is survived by her children: Carolyn (Jeff) Hunter; Steven (Brenda) Haskell; John (Tara) Haskell, Nicki (Frank) Lovejoy; Robert (Robin) Haskell; Tom (Liz) Haskell.
Stevie also leaves behind her grandchildren: Michele (Lee) Ramos ; Patrick Hoffman; Jennifer Lovejoy (husband Matt Kelley); Eric Lovejoy; Ashley (Daniel) Camarillo; Zachary (Alondra) Haskell; Lindsey Haskell (fiancé Ethan Bownds); Nicholas Haskell; Anna Haskell; Zachary (Wendy) Glover.
She is also survived by her siblings: Grace Ellen Tilidetzke, Cathy Werle, Thomas (Pat) Consolazione. Stevie was blessed with having 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband Philip Haskell, and her parents, Paul and Anna Consolazione.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Gil and Vickie Bicera and the staff of Balance Residential Care for the wonderful care they provided to our mother during the last years of her life. Also a thank you to the supportive staff of Optimal Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Stephanie Haskell’s name. Any questions may be directed to Doughty-Calhoun-O’Meara Funeral Directors, 324-9821.
