Richard (Rico) Alan Lamas, was a longtime resident of Bakersfield, CA who passed unexpectedly on December 25, 2019 at the age of 59.
Rico is survived by his mother, Sharon Marie Lamas and brother, Charles (Chuck) Lawrence Lamas. He is preceded in death by his father, Harold Raymond Lamas; his maternal grandparents, Euless and Margaret Worthington; and his paternal grandparents, Fred and Juanita Lamas.
Rico was born on August 28th 1960 in Bakersfield, CA but he grew up in Shafter, CA where he attended the Catholic Church later becoming an altar boy. He enjoyed the Boy Scouts, basketball, and anything “Raiders”. Rico graduated from Shafter High School in 1979 and moved to Bakersfield, CA where he worked at Denny’s Restaurant as the head cook for more than 25 years. He retired about 5 years ago and worked with his brother at the apartments where they live until his passing.
Rico was a “Die Hard Raiders Fan” who enjoyed friendly competition with his brother, Chuck, who is a Washington Redskins fan. Rico was also a very kind, outgoing and loving person who always did his best to lend a hand and will always be remembered for his Raiders personality.
Visitation will be held at Doughty-Calhoun-O’Meara on Friday January 17 from 4pm-8pm. Graveside services will be at Union Cemetery on Saturday January 18 at 10am.
