We are saddened at the sudden passing of Buttonwillow farmer, Peter Andreotti. Farming was Peter’s lifelong dedication, starting as a boy working on his father’s farm. In 1987 he formed Valley West Farms with Sue Wasson. With Peter’s expertise and Sue “batting cleanup”, they planted cotton and alfalfa, later developing almond and pistachio orchards.
In 2001, Peter built “Andreotti’s Corner”, a mini-mart on Lerdo Highway, now a fixture in his local farming community.
Peter enjoyed a good meal, a good movie, especially “The Godfather”, and took pride in his Italian heritage. His family emigrated from the Toscana region of Italy to the Bay Area and then our Valley.
When Peter’s son, Vido, was born, he was the light of his life. Although sometimes known for a gruff exterior, his relationship with his son brought out Peter’s true and loving heart.
He is survived by his son, Vido; sisters, Lidian, Elaine and Francette; numerous cousins; and Vido’s mother, Cristal. Peter was predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Patsy Andreotti; and several aunts and uncles.
