Michael Patrick Collier
September 30, 1947- October 18, 2024
Michael was born on September 30, 1947 in Bakersfield California to Kemp and Dena Collier.
He attended local schools for his primary grades and was a 1965 graduate from South High School. At South High School Michael was a standout out wrestler going undefeated his senior year and winning a valley championship at 138 lbs.
After high school Michael attended Bakersfield College where he continued to wrestle. In 1967 he enlisted in the Navy and spent two years in Da Nang Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam he remained in the Navy reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1973.
From an early age Michael worked in construction, first as a laborer up to working his way through high school and college. Michael left college early to pursue his career in construction. He worked for several contractors early in his career and eventually started Collier Concrete Construction in 1975, where he worked for the rest of his career.
Michael's passion for the great outdoors was evident from an early age, as he spent countless hours fishing and hunting with his friends and brothers throughout his lifetime.
Michael is survived by his wife, Anna Sue; sons, Michael Sean and Grant Patrick; daughter-in-law, Laura; and grandchildren, Emma and Juliana, and siblings Kimberly Daramy and Denny Collier, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kemp and Dena, and his brothers, Steve and Mark.
A service to honor Michael's life will be held at the National Cemetery on November 15th at 12:30pm. His life, marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his love of nature, will be remembered by all who knew him.
