Mark Steven Landucci went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 7, 2021 while surrounded by family.
His love for God, family, and friends was the centerpiece of his life. Born in Bakersfield October 26, 1955 to Freddie and Helen Landucci, he was the third of four children. Raised by God fearing parents, he attended St. Joseph’s church with his family. His childhood was marked by happy memories of working on bikes with his brothers and fishing trips with his dad. He graduated from East Bakersfield Highschool where he participated in wrestling and football.
Following the example set by his parents, Mark had an admirable work ethic: he overcame learning difficulties, and then worked for the USDA as a field inspector to fund his education. Mark attended Bakersfield College where participated in College Life, campus ministry. He later graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor’s of Science in Entomology, later receiving his teaching credential from CSUB. While at school, Mark met Margaret at church. They developed a friendship based on a common love for Christ while participating together in college ministry and married May 31, 1980.
Mark and Margaret moved to Bakersfield where they raised three daughters. He worked for many years in the agriculture industry, became a real-estate agent, and began his own transportation business, eventually fulfilling his calling as a middle school math and science teacher. Mark spent his free time with family or working on one of his favorite hobbies, tending to his epic vegetable garden, or rebuilding vintage VWs. Mark had a servant’s heart through and through and gave freely of his time and talents. He was an active member of Grace Community Church for 30 plus years, serving his church family by helping to rebuild the sanctuary and preparing meals for gatherings.
Mark is survived by his wife of almost 41 years, Margaret, and their three daughters, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Mary, also, his mother, Helen, sister Janice Morris (David), brothers Fred (Allison) and Steven (Laurie) and many beloved nephews, nieces, and great-nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his father, Freddie. Mark, more than anything, will live in our hearts as a man who was dedicated to his Savior and his loved ones. We look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 19, 2021, at 2:30pm at Grace Community Church, 3611 Taft HWY.
