It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father and Papa, Louis John Rodrigues.
Louis was born on September 27, 1949 in Bakersfield, CA. On January 27, 2025, at the age of 75, he was embraced at the doors of heaven by his father, Arthur Rodrigues and son, Paul Rodrigues.
Louis had a long and dedicated career with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), where he was known not only for his exceptional work ethic but also for his warm personality and ability to make people smile. He retired from PG&E, after 45 years, respectfully, as a Foreman. His dedication was a testament to his hard work and commitment.
Outside of his work, Louis's life was enriched by a wide range of hobbies and passions, one of which was his deep love for music. He found joy in singing along to the timeless classics of Elvis Presley, often serenading his children with his favorite "oldies but goodies." His admiration for the legendary Johnny Cash was equally strong, with the iconic “Ring of Fire” playing as his ringtone, a constant reminder of his playful spirit and love for the music that defined his soul.
In addition to his love for music, Louis was a passionate sports fan and found great joy in attending the Bakersfield Condors hockey games with his sons and cheering on the Los Angeles Rams football team. His love for sports brought joy and excitement to his life and created countless cherished memories with his family and friends.
A man young at heart, Louis approached life with a youthful spirit and infectious playfulness, always striving to make those around him smile and laugh. He had a passion for antiquing, which reflected his appreciation for the past, collecting little knick knacks, and uncovering unique treasures. He especially cherished trips to Morro Bay, where he and his wife enjoyed the beauty of the coast. Louis was also a great admirer of classic Western shows, often reminiscing about the "good ol’ days" as he watched reruns of “Gunsmoke,” “Bonanza,” and “Tales of Wells Fargo.” A lover of all things classic, Louis found immense joy in attending car shows, where he indulged his passion for collecting toy hot rods and memorabilia that celebrated his love for vintage cars.
Louis leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness. He is survived by his mother, Julie Rodrigues; wife, Sue Rodrigues; and loving stepchildren; his siblings: Eleanor Lynch, Shirley (Pascal Ansolabehere), and Kathie (Dominic Othart); his children: Katherine (Adrian Garcia), Gina (Kevin Tallon), Joseph (Olga Rodrigues) and Marcie (Nicholas Bankston); as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. His family will continue to honor his memory through their own acts of love and compassion. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
