Lacy was born May 28, 1986. After a fast, frantic trip down the mountain, Lacy’s parents arrived at the Birthing Center just in time for her birth. She was raised in the Greenhorn Mountains north of Bakersfield and several years later, when the family finally moved into town, they soon discovered that she was actually a “city girl” at heart. Lacy passed away unexpectedly on November 14, 2022.
As a North High “Star,” Lacy graduated from North High School in 2004 and attended Bakersfield College, majoring in computer science. After hurricane Katrina, she worked for the Red Cross - an essential job which she truly loved. Lacy had worked a variety of jobs, but it was while employed at a big-box electronics store that she had met her future husband, Anthony. Although she had had several jobs throughout her short life, her most important job was being a stay-at-home Mom to daughter Riley.
Lacy was preceded in death by her grandparents Earl and Theresa Benjamin; Lily and Cliff Rosenow; and Lewis Long; uncle John Benjamin; cousins Christina Marie Askew and Rebecca Goss.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Anthony Kress; beloved daughter Riley Kress; parents Lewis Jr. and Cathy Long; sister Lucy Long; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; all of whom enjoyed her bubbly, outgoing personality, sharp wit, and who loved her unconditionally. She will be greatly missed.
Viewing is from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Doughty-Calhoun-O’Meara Funeral Chapel, 1100 Truxtun Avenue. The funeral service celebrating Lacy’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, December 9, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1800 Bedford Way.
