Jules J. Ghyselinck, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and entrepreneur, who peacefully left us at the age of 99. Jules’ remarkable journey through life began on September 17, 1924 in St Louis, MO and culminated in a legacy marked by service, dedication, and love for his family and friends.
Jules proudly served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps, where his courage and commitment were an inspiration to all who knew him. After completing his college education at Washington State University in St. Louis MO., Jules embarked on a successful career with Contel Service Corporation in the Telecommunications field in which he dedicated 35 years of service. As the Telecom industry grew and evolved, so did Jules, becoming a respected figure known for his expertise and innovation. His pioneering spirit led him to eventually start his own company, Executone Western California, in the early 1980s.
During his time in St. Louis, Jules met Virginia Bennett who was attending nursing school and they started dating. Jules and Virginia married 1948. They were able to celebrate 75 years of marriage before her passing last year in October. Jules and Virginia’s journey through life eventually brought them to Bakersfield, where they found a loving community and made countless cherished memories.
Jules was not only a hardworking professional but also a deeply devoted family man. He is survived by his four children, Sara, Joe (Rhonda), John (Wendy), and Barbara Wells (preceded in death by Alan), his granddaughter, Jennifer Mitchell (Clayton), and great-grandson Hunter. Jules is also survived by his nephews and their families, the Ingrassia’s as well as extended family members. They will all forever carry his memory in their hearts. His legacy continues through them and the countless lives he touched throughout his life. He now joins his beloved Virginia for eternity.
A service to honor and celebrate Jules’ extraordinary life will take place on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10am beginning with mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, followed by an escort to the Bakersfield National Cemetery with services at 12:30 and returning for a celebration of his life at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hoffmann Hospice or St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church parish where Jules and Virginia have been members of since the day they began services in the Frontier high school auditorium in 2008. Both causes are close to Jules’ heart and those of the family.
Jules J. Ghyselinck will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
