Josephine “Josie” Hearn (September 2, 1930 – November 17, 2021)
Josephine Palazzola was born in Detroit, Michigan on September 2, 1930. The seventh of nine children to Dominick and Virginia Palazzola. In May 1950, she married Melford Hearn which lasted for 65 years.
She dedicated her life to husband Melford and children James, John, Nancy, Paul, Joseph and Peter Hearn along with grandson Thomas Hearn. Her greatest pride was raising her kids. She loved watching their football games and wrestling matches. Her hobbies included a daily walk, baking, and TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly). Most of all, she loved playing bingo and slot machines; her gambling name was “Jackpot Josie.”
She was a great home maker. Anyone that stopped by the Hearn household, was asked “are you hungry, honey?” No matter what time of day it was, she’d be happy to cook something for her guests. The kitchen was her domain, she thrived on cooking and entertaining. Her personality was contagious, she knew how to have a good time and keep everyone laughing. It was always a special treat to see her version of Shirley Temple tap dance.
Josie will be greeted in heaven by her husband Melford, sons James and Joseph, and grandson Thomas Michael Hearn. She is survived by sons John, Paul and Peter Hearn, daughter Nancy Johnson and grandson Thomas James Hearn.
