"Punkin"

Visitation for Joseph Anthony Feliz "Punkin" will be held at Doughty Calhoun O'Meara Funeral Home 1100 Truxtun Avenue in Bakersfield, CA on Tuesday July 6, 2021 from 4:00-8:00pm with the recitation of the rosary beginning at 5:30pm.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 7, 2021 at 11:00am at Historic Union Cemetery  730 E. Potomac Ave. Bakersfield, CA.  Pallbearers will be son Leo Joseph Feliz, Reyes Marquez, Mark Ronquillo, Gabriel Ronquillo, Theodore Feliz Jr., Fred Feliz IV, Fernando Feliz, Adolph Feliz.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Richie Azevido, Theodore Feliz Sr. "Banzo", James Drew, grandson Robert Salazar Jr., Paul Salinas, Melinda Salinas.

Joseph was born July 2, 1963 and passed over to our Lord on June 12, 2021. He was the youngest child of Fred Sr. and Charlotte Feliz, born and raised in Bakersfield, very proud of his native Piute heritage.  Punkin, as we affectionately call him, was clearly his Mom and Dad's baby boy.  He had a beautiful spirit, a hardy laugh, and would help anyone in a New York minute.  If you ever needed a handy man, he was the one to call.  He could do or fix just about anything.  Punkin enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.  He could often be found playing casino games on his phone or watching sports with his brother in law Gabriel.  Most of all, he loved spending time playing with his grandson Robert whom he loved dearly.  Robert was the" lil light" in his eyes.   Joseph was a loveable and caring person.  After his father passed away, he took it upon himself to help many family members in need.  Punkin will be dearly missed by all who knew him and were touched by his kindness, especially by his wife and family. 

Joseph was preceded in death by his father; Fred Feliz Sr., mother; Charlotte Feliz, son; Joseph Rene Feliz, brothers; Charles Hernandez, Ronald Feliz, Fred Feliz Jr., sisters; Phyllis Andres, Mary Ann Feliz and Freda Feliz.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife; Charmaine Ronquillo Feliz, son; Leo Feliz, step-children; Joseph, Vicente, Richie, Cecilia, Marcelina, and Mari, brothers; Phillip Hernandez, Theodore (Diane) Feliz, Gerald Feliz, Adolph (Amanda) Feliz, sisters; Linda Dugan, Josephine Feliz, Shirley Martinez, Charlene Fernandez, his 1 and only grandson; Robert Salazar, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joseph's family would like to express a very special thank you to his nurse Walter and all of the nurses at KMC who took such good care of him in ICU and DOU.
