Jose Marie Garde was born in Lecaroz, Spain on May 25, 1946. He immigrated to America in 1968 where he worked together with his cousin Melchor Gragirena for El Tejon Sheep Company. He worked hard to provide for his widowed mother (Victoria Saharrea Garde Amatxi), brothers (Martinxo, Jesus Marie) and sisters (Marisabel, Pili, Juanita, Rexu, Conchita, Antonieta) back home in the Basque Country. Jose next transitioned to the hospitality industry where he tended bar for Chateau Basque where he met his wife Angela and started a family. Jose opened his own establishments The Lumberyard and J&J Basque and finished his career tending bar at Chalet Basque.
Jose had an electric spirit and energy that everyone loved. He brought so much laughter and joy to the hearts of his friends and family. He was intelligent, kind and loved and cared for his family more than anything in the world. He raised a son Moishe with love and patience and the two had an unbreakable connection and adoration toward one another that could only be described as special.
He was also a loving grandfather/Aitaxi to Asher, London and Julian and father in law to Pamela. We will miss you forever Aitaxi. Rest In Peace
