John Harold Rickard III

April 5, 1943 — October 10, 2021

John Harold Rickard lll (Rick) was born on April 5, 1943 in Henderson Kentucky to John Harold Rickard ll (Harold) and Buel Dine Rickard in Henderson, Kentucky. He was 78 at the time of his death. Rick passed peacefully in Bakersfield, California after a short battle with brain cancer. He was a retired engineer who was transferred by Texaco to Bakersfield from Amarillo, Texas in 1988. Rick was raised in the high plains of the Texas panhandle. He graduated from Phillips High School and Texas Tech University. He was drafted and served in the army for two years in Vietnam. After his term he married Charlene Rickard and became father to Danny, Rosie, and Angie Jackson. His daughter, Cory, was born six years later. Rick enjoyed his grandkids, spending time with his family in South Fork, Colorado, and painting. He was a kind, patient, and often silly person who always put others first. He is survived by his wife Charlene, children Danny Jackson (wife Carmen), Rosie Standridge (husband Jeff), Angie Widhalm (husband Mike), and Cory Geurtsen (husband Dylan), grandchildren Judd Jackson, Abby Skow, Lacy Jackson, Jackson and Carson Widhalm, Chloe and Colton Standridge, Cierra Rogers, Jeremy and Donnie Bright, 10 great grandchildren, brother Scott Rickard (wife Linda), sister Kristi Horton (husband Mike), Aunt Eula Belle Koop, sister in law Lou Ellen Marble, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held on Monday, October 18th at 10:30am at First Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield.
