It is with great sadness that we announce James (Jimmy) Edward Dean has passed away. Jimmy was born February 21st, 1947, and passed peacefully on Veterans Day, November 11th, 2024 in Bakersfield, CA. Jimmy was born in Mexico, Missouri and lived in Bakersfield, California after 1990 until his passing.
Jimmy enlisted in the Air Force after graduating from Mexico High School. He was a proud jet mechanic. While in the Air Force he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in northern California. Jimmy and his family stayed in the Rio Vista area before moving to Bakersfield. During this time, he married Georgina. They were married for 6 years and had his first Daughter, Julie (Harmon). After his separation from Georgina, he married Mary, the two of them were married for 38 years and had two children, Paul and Tami (Holden). Mary passed away in 2012, and after her passing Jimmy married Patsy, the two of them were married up to his passing.
After Jimmy got out of the military, he started a lifelong career in the Oil and Gas industry. He worked for Halliburton Services, BJ, and Baker Hughes to name a few. His career expanded the state of California. He was a natural born salesman and loved everyone he encountered. His time with API and the Black Gold Productions were some of the greatest times of his life, from golf tournaments, plays, holidays at the Petroleum Club, and famous for his hot link and tri-tip barbecuing on the company barbecue trailer, it was a family affair.
After his retirement he had more time to dive into some of his hobbies, wood working, fishing with his son Paul, tinkering in his shop, gardening, and most of all spoiling his grandkids and great grandkids.
Jimmy was one of a kind. He was charismatic, flirty, kind, loyal and incredibly generous. He was an incredible grandfather. He extended his kindness and forgiveness time and time again, to anyone he thought needed a hand. He will be sorely missed.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Hellen and LJ Dean, his former wives Georgina and Mary, In-Laws Larry Clayton, Sandie Dean and Reuben and Fran Nettles. He is survived by his wife Patsy Dean siblings Gary Dean, Joyce Clayton and Sheryl Butler, his children, stepchildren and their spouses, Julie and Don Harmon, Paul Dean, and Tami and Kyle Holden. Grandchildren, Aundreia (Tim Montzingo), Ashley (Jason Goin), Brandon Mason (Lee Ann), Ally (Hunter Crist). Great grandchildren; Ethan Crist, Kody and Paige Goin, Colton and Warren Montzingo. In his marriage with Patsy, he is survived by children Earl McCurdy (Jenifer), Michelle (Joey Gregory) and Teri Lewis and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jimmy very much enjoyed his time with them and blending their families over the years.
Jimmy passed peacefully at the Hoffman Hospice Home where he was blessed beyond measure in the care he received. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hoffman Hospice and the Hoffman Hospice Home (4401 Buena Vista Road, Bakersfield, CA 93311).
