Born July 28, 1944, Harold Dee Wong was born to Violet and Harold YN Wong in Bakersfield California. A man who had a presence and made himself known everywhere he went. “Dee” attended Bakersfield schools, Bakersfield High School, Bakersfield College and finally earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Dee’s charming personality was warm and big. He loved God, his family and his friends and would do anything for them. 50 plus years in the produce business, he was known to sell his fingerling potatoes to “ice to an Eskimo”. He was the “can do” man.
Dee loved his John Wayne Westerns and his heart felt underdog sport movies like “Rudy”. The juxtaposition of a macho kind of guy with the heart of Santa Clause was felt by anyone who came across Dee’s path. Dee is survived by his wife, Linda of over 53 years, daughter (Jennifer), son (Chris), daughter-in-law (Leah), grandchildren (Gabri and Christian and Lauren, the little boss,) and his sister and brother-in-law (Carol and John Lee).
There will never be another “Dee Wong!” He will surely be missed. May he Rest In Peace! Dee, you may run and leap in Heaven to our Lord and praise his name. Services will be at OLPH June 16 @ 5:30 pm for the Rosary and a funeral mass June 17, @ 10 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Our Lady of Perpetual Help: 124 Columbus St., Bakersfield, CA 93305
