Glen Orville Werling Jr.
September 24, 1935 - March 29, 2024
Glen, Goose, Orv, Dad, Grampa, PaPaPa, whatever name you called him, the man behind it was the same. A faithful, loyal, hardworking man. A hero in the community, Glen served this country as a Navy Seaman and as a Kern County Fire Engineer. A loving husband to his beloved bride, Shirley, who has her own rescue story. A love story that was beautiful and adventurous. A story that involved two children, four grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He is the lighthouse in our story. Our constant, our moral compass, our leader and mentor.
Glen enjoyed the simple things in life, early morning fishing and hunting, an afternoon sailing, a quiet walk on the beach with Shirley, flying kites and building sandcastles with his grandkids. His adventurous side was spent water skiing with his kids, and causing mischief with his buddies. Glen enjoyed watching hockey and followed the Bakersfield Condors every play.
There isn’t a shortage of stories that stars Glen as the leading man. A devout Christian man with a heart of gold. A true testament of “actions speak louder than words.” We all have our stories and we will cherish them for the rest of time.
