ELAINE MARIE ALLEN

Elaine Marie Allen, 90, of Cottonwood CA, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2023.

Elaine was born on Aug 1, 1932, to Robert and Gertrude Hanrahan in East Chicago, Illinois. After Elaine graduated from high school, she went on to study Nursing at The Little Company of Mary Hospital Nursing School. Graduating with a degree in Nursing. 

In 1958, Elaine met Jim Allen in Anchorage Alaska where she was a public health nurse and Jim was stationed there in the United States Air Force. They married in 1959. Jim and Elaine went on to have two children, Kirk and Scott.  They eventually found themselves in Bakersfield CA where Elaine became the Director of Nursing at Rosewood Retirement Community.

Elaine worked various jobs until she was 75 years of age after retiring from Rosewood.  She often said that she kept working as her social life after losing Jim to Cancer in 1990.

 Elaine was predeceased by the love of her life James L Allen and her son Scott Allen.  Elaine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kirk and Annette Allen, four grandchildren, Daniel Allen, Sean Allen, Brittany Lutz and Broc Bozarth and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at St Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Bakersfield on Friday July 28, 2023 at 9:30 am. There will also be a viewing at Doughty - Calhoun – O’Meara Funeral Home on Thursday July 27, 2023 from 4 pm – 7 pm.
