Daniel was born in Manila, Philippine Island, on August 4, 1941 to parents Ernst (23) and Gladys (20) Wichman. He spent his first years as a POW imprisoned, with his family by the Japanese at Santo Tomas University for the duration of the war. Returning to the Philippines following the war, Ernst and Gladys along with the children lived in a small Quonset hut where they would bounce a tennis ball around while outlasting monsoons. Daniel and his siblings shared childhood adventures scouring the beaches for war loot and eating coconuts. Settling stateside in Selma California, the family built their home on Cypress Street and young Dan began working on his Eagle Scout. Graduating from Selma High class of 1960, Dan went from Reedley College to Fresno State University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in geography and a minor in entomology. He served in the Army National Guards an x-ray technician (1964-1970) prior to his employment with the city of Fresno (1969-2009). Daniel loved to travel and go on adventures big or small. One DC-4 flight across the Pacific ocean as a child was enough flying to last him a lifetime, so he preferred traveling in his camper. Prior to starting a family of his own, Dan could be found enjoying a motorcycle ride up and down the state, or setting out for Canada in a VW bug with one of his road-dawgs Uncles Dave, John, or Art. Danny was a family man at his core and his love for family was evident in all that he did. Be it a weekend at Millerton Lake on the sail boat, holidays at the uncles, the annual trip to the Big Fresno Fair, or sneaking into Yosemite after the guard left the gate at night, his adventures continued. That bulky VHS recorder was attached to his hip with extra batteries and tapes in tow to capture treasured memories of his family. He is survived by his wife Susan, four children; son Joshua Sellers and wife Zara, daughter Emily Rodriguez and husband Mike, son Christopher and wife Amy, son Kevin and fiance Jessica Fernainy, two grandchildren; Jake and Natalie Sellers, two sisters; Nancy Wichman, Caroline Kelley and husband Patrick, two half brothers Ernie and Anthony one aunt; Grace Penn and husband Vernon and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
