Brigette Aliece Hamblet 1970–2024
An angel arrived in heaven on August 22, 2024. Brigette was born on September 30, 1970 in Bakersfield, California where she lived all her life. She was a Bakersfield High School graduate in 1989 and later attended school to become a dental assistant. She married the love of her life, Steve Hamblet in 1998 and dedicated her life to raising their two children, Peter and Juliana. She spent 12 years as a teacher’s aide caring for students with special needs. Brigette fought breast cancer at the young age of 34 and was again diagnosed at 52 with late stage liver and colon cancer.
Brigette enjoyed spending time with her husband, kids, family, and friends. She spent most days out in her front yard gardening or in her office sewing blankets for family and friends. She spent mornings with a cup of coffee in her hand and the majority of the nights reading a book. You could find Brigette at the beach most summers and holidays. She had a passion for cooking and keeping family recipes alive. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, contagious laugh, huge heart, overwhelming generosity, and immense strength.
She is preceded in death by her mother Alicia Cardwell, grandparents Todd and Julie Weston, and aunt Katherine Weston. Brigette is survived by her husband Steve Hamblet, children Peter and Juliana, brothers Brian Bertolaccini (Jeannie) and Mark Shockley (Marci), and her uncle Jeffrey Weston. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday September 3rd from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM at Kern Law Enforcement Association Hall. The family has requested that all guests attending wear pink, green, or blue in honor of Brigette.
