Andrew Donley Apsit’s Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. at the Olive Drive Church, 5500 Olive Drive, Bakersfield, CA 93308 in the sanctuary. Please join us as we celebrate Andrew’s life as he is now with the Lord with a new body. Andrew was born on July 23, 1966 in Bakersfield, CA and entered heaven on November 2, 2020. He joined his dad in heaven, Peter Donley Apsit who passed November 2, 1999.
Andrew was the cutest blonde curly hair kid and full of wonderful smiles and a great laugh. At an early age he was a very caring boy and grew up to be the same way as he was always willing to care for those in need. It did not matter what the job was you needed done, big or small, he was there to help and be the caregiver to anyone. God gave him a big heart and it was heartfelt by many.
Andrew attended local schools and graduated from Highland High School in 1985 and attended trade school and received his welding certificate. He became an exceptionally good welder and loved his trade.
Andrew did not always make all the best choices; however, in the last 2 ½ years he had turned his life around dramatically with the new freedom he had. He did make the most important choice and decision in asking Christ in his heart and rededicating his life several years ago. He shared with many his walk with the Lord. He was able to register to vote in our 2020 election as it was the first time, he was able to vote and was so proud he got to cast his vote.
Also, a joy he had was a guys fishing trip to Morro Bay in August with all the men and nephews in the family. This was going to be an annual event and now it will be different and will be a time to honor Andrew and catch the big one that got away from Andrew. Then another wonderful fishing trip to Grants Pass, Oregon in September with his mom and Uncle David and visit Aunt Becky and Uncle Bob to once again to throw in his line in the Rogue River.
He is survived by his mother Barbara Apsit-Incardone Philley and step-dad Terry Philley, brother Christopher Apsit and wife Melissa, and family, Zackary and fiance Courtni, Peter, Evan, Grace; and Jenna, sister Allison and brother-in-law Jonathan Barr and family, Payson and Braden Scoggins, Jordanne and husband Jordan, Aleck, Kristian, Jakob and Matthew Barr, Uncle David Nicholas and Aunt Janie, Aunt Becky Bonner and Uncle Bob; son Tyler Apsit and wife Mistie and 3 granddaughters, Kaitlin, Ashlynn and Riley, and daughter Ashley Apsit with 2 grandsons, Michael and Raiden and many cousins. Andrew recently had personally re-established his relationship with his Father, Pops, Stanley Ackling, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his dad Peter Apsit, grandparents P. K. and Betty Nicholas, Marger and Tiny Apsit, and Stanley and Jean Ackling.
