7/27/2024 – Adrienne Brinkley Obituary
Adrienne Brinkley, a beloved wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2024, in Bakersfield, California. She was 88 years old. Adrienne spent her final days surrounded by her loving family.
Adrienne was born in Oxford, England and survived the bombing of London during World War II. She finished high school and went to work at an automobile factory. She continued to live at home with her parents, Ernest and Ena Adams. Not long after finishing school she met Ted Brinkley who at the time was stationed at RAF Brize Norton Air Force Base in Carterton, England in 1956. That was the beginning of their long love affair. They were married and on their way back to the United States with two young children in tote, in 1960. They would have celebrated 68 years of marriage in August.
Adrienne’s hobbies included reading, word search puzzle books, camping, deep sea fishing, spending time with family and playing the lotto. She loved going down to the local store and buying “scratchers” and numbers for the weekly ball drop. She was known throughout her family as the lucky queen of scratchers. Adrienne loved attending family sporting events; baseball games whether it was my dad playing, her son or her grandkids. One of her favorite family gatherings was hosting Christmas Eve with the family.
Adrienne was kind, compassionate and loyal. She loved a good chat, as she never knew a stranger. She was always checking on family and friends making sure everyone was OK! She was a loving wife, mother, nana and friend. All who knew her loved her! Being of generous nature Adrienne donated to several charities, Wounded Warriors being one she favored.
In addition to her parents Ernest and Ena Adams, she was preceded in death by her brothers Pete and Ernie Adams.
Surviving in addition to her husband Ted Brinkley, are her daughter, Diane Picanso (Doug). Her son Rinnie Brinkley. Six grandchildren; Matthew Picanso (Sasha), Brett Picanso, Derek Brinkley (Theresa), Veronica Shelton, Mikayla Garner (Wyatt) and Nathan Brinkley. Three great-grandchildren; Kade Shelton, Deakin Brinkley and Alexandra Picanso. Her sister-in law Viv Adams.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the kindness and compassionate care and support given by the staff at Hoffman Hospice.
